Has God taken you to the far side of the desert, after you were converted or have you resisted? Find out God's purpose in this desert place as you listen on today's Pilgrim's Progress. Using the life of Daniel, Pastor Ray illustrates what it means to have our life on God's terms and what that actually looks like.  In our self-centered culture, we've wanted to make our life about us and most of our life is not actually about us but rather what God wants to do through us. That's the call from Jesus to live our life on His terms. What will you do??? https://nationalprayerchapel.com/?p=3963&feed_id=4442

I Cast Myself On The Mercy Of The Lord

I Cast Myself On The Mercy Of The Lord Pastor Ray opens the broadcast today wi... Pastor Ray opens the broadcast today with the story of Blind Bartimaeus. We must cast ourselves on the mercy of the Lord Jesus, lest we perish. We can only get Jesus attention through the loud cries of our hearts. Is your heart desperate for the mercy of Jesus? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19qb0_fEMAY We see that Bartimaeus was eager for Jesus to come, so the desperation is one of the keys to get to Jesus. We also see his poverty of spirit, another requisite of getting to Jesus. Finally, he was determined to get to Jesus and that's the only way that we will as well. To cast one's self on is to yield or submit one's self unreservedly to, as to the mercy of another. Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, published 1913 by G. & C. Merriam Co. Americana

Americana The history of America and the history ... The history of America and the history of biblical Israel run parallel. We find this exemplified in the story of Elijah, Ahab, and Jezebel. Confronting the Jewish people, Elijah said, "How long will you hop back and forth between two opinions?" He referred to the love of God and the love of prosperity achieved by any means. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve received everything they needed as a gift from God. This kept them free to fulfill God's commission to, "fill the earth and govern it" (Genesis 1:28). Only with the curse did they lose their commission, and with it, their provision. Instead, they were now condemned to work with suffering just to survive. But, in Jesus, we have redemption from this curse. If we seek first God's kingdom and righteousness, then everything we need will be given to us. Has this curse been broken in your life? https://nationalprayerchapel.com/?p=9404&f...

Are You a Christian?

Are You a Christian? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0tHd_... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0tHd_VZQ2E Pastor Ray asks whether you a Christian? We have to allow the Holy Spirit to show us our true spiritual condition. He lays some simple things we need to ask ourselves, will you do those things? Have you lost your life and have all of the roots to the world been severed? Is your career centered around reaching others for Jesus and do you have your own agenda, separate from Jesus? Being a Christian, is not an add-on in any sense, the real Gospel demands that you give up your life in this world. 24Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. 25For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26 -...

Run to Jesus for Refuge

Run to Jesus for Refuge What does it look like to run to Jesus ... What does it look like to run to Jesus for refuge? Brother Bevington, a 20th-century American evangelist, cut it straight. "Get right with God! Get on your knees and cry out loud for mercy!" Bevington issued these directions not to unbelievers, but to church members in good standing. The resulting meeting continued for over eight days. Bevington preached only a little. And when he did, he focused on the judgment and the wrath of God. He spent his days offsite, wrestling with God in prayer for the salvation and sanctification of these people. As a result, hundreds were in soul agony--sometimes for less than an hour, and sometimes for days. They confessed their sins out loud, wept, and cried to God for mercy until they finally got through and knew they were right with God. One woman replied, "You're just making fools out of all of us. Our pastor said that I'm saved." Bevington cut h...

As the Holy Spirit opens our understanding, the word of God becomes clearer and clearer or perhaps from another vantage point, sharper and sharper. Today's message will broaden your understanding about what Jesus is after in your heart. It's clear from the scriptures and Pastor Ray makes this clear that this isn't an optional process. Find out how to walk this as you listen to the message. Tearing the Heart of God

Tearing the Heart of God The American church today, and the chur... The American church today, and the church in most of the Western world as well, face a divorce with God. We've been unfaithful and cannot expect the loving presence of God until we've rebuilt trust with Him through repentance and obedience.  God does not want to let us go -- will you give up all expectations, and simply love and fully submit your life to Jesus? (Note: We're also including Sister Michelle's welcome. This sermon is the beginning of a series on the book of Hosea. Asa, King of Judah

Asa, King of Judah King Asa led the nation of Judah in rig... King Asa led the nation of Judah in righteousness, and God blessed them with peace and prosperity. But then Asa turned from the Lord and began to make political decisions without seeking God. When rebuked, Asa put God's people in prison and persecuted them. Finally, he died with an impenitent heart. How did this happen? Simply, Asa forgot that he was a sojourner. He forgot that this world wasn't his home, and that he wasn't an independent free agent who didn't need God. Likewise, as Christians, we're to keep our eyes focused on heaven and fixed upon Jesus. We're to disconnect from anything or anyone that doesn't help us or others get to heaven. And we're to give our prayers, conversations, and resources to help our brothers and sisters get there. Who can you help on the journey to heaven today? https://nationalprayerchapel.com/?p=7435&feed_id=4411

The Joy Of Living In God's Power

The Joy Of Living In God's Power https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpM4dq... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpM4dqPtBAI How do we live in the joy of God's power mentioned in Acts 1:8? Pastor Ray lays out what is required by walking through the steps necessary to give ourselves to Jesus. He uses the book Holy Spirit Revivals to lay out some of these things and then focuses on our lack of repentance, which is clearly evident in the modern church by the lack of power most prominently. Are you willing to ask Jesus to bring us into a place where our repentance is completed? Jesus asks for us to go all the way to the bottom, will you cry out to Jesus to do this work in your through the person of the Holy Spirit. 1What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer? The Date of Your Execution

The Date of Your Execution Jesus said, "Do not begin to think that... Jesus said, "Do not begin to think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I came not to abolish but to fulfill." Weaving in Charles Finney's allegory about parents pleading for the pardon of their condemned son, Pastor Ray shows that the new covenant does not abolish the requirements of the moral law. In the new covenant, God writes his law in our hearts so that we become righteous now. Has the law, by faith in Christ, been totally fulfilled in your heart? Are you, like the parents, pleading with God for the guilty--or, like the son, will you come to the date of your execution in rebellion and proud disdain, protesting your innocence? Rees Howells' testimony illustrates the need to abandon selfishness, which is sin, in order to enter and stay in union with Jesus. The gospel is designed to eradicate selfish motives and draw one's heart into pure benevolence. On the nature of this change, Charles Finney writes, "If you love God, you cannot reflect that you have wounded his feelings, without pain. You would not complain that you could not repent: The truth is, that if you were in the exercise of love for God, you could not help repenting[...] " Christian, is this your experience? https://nationalprayerchapel.com/?p=4164&feed_id=4401

Revival in the Home

Revival in the Home https://youtu.be/IYI-YyzM0gQ Just ... https://youtu.be/IYI-YyzM0gQ Just as sin began in the home, revival first begins in the home. When a person is restored to the image of Jesus, the life of Christ flows in and through that person to the lives of other people. Very practically, this means fellowship, love, and oneness with those with whom we live--our husbands, wives, parents, brothers, sisters, and children. In this restoration, we don't hide from one another, lord over others, or give in to another's selfishness. Instead, when each person gives up their own selfishness, the home becomes a place of peace and love. https://nationalprayerchapel.com/?p=9477&feed_id=4396

Live IN GLORY!

Live IN GLORY! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jatjDd... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jatjDdy64p0 On today's broadcast, Pastor Ray takes us through the story of Naboth and King Ahab. King Ahab heeded the voice of Jezebel, and the result was total devastation. We must make the same decision to heed or not heed the seducing spirits of Jezebel . If we're willing to say NO, then God will take us into His glory and power. To say it more succinctly, say no to Jezebel and yes to Jesus, regardless of what the cost may be! God will defend you, as He defended Elijah (although likely in a different way). "And once you taste living in the glory of God, you'll never go back to Jezebel. You'll never go back to Jezebel and gain your sustenance and your life from this wicked, wicked world and this wicked, wicked woman."  Pastor Ray during today's broadcast https://nationalprayerchapel.com/?p=41651&feed_id=4390

Walking through a Veil of Tears

For centuries, true Christians have walked through a veil of tears because of their grief over a church choked by self-righteousness. Christians who set up Pharisaical standards, and then hold others to them, break relationships and cause division. Because people in this self-righteous spirit are so convinced that they are right, they don't see the damage they cause to the people of God. Jesus loves his church because it's his body. And self-sacrificing love, explosive joy, and shalom mark the church of Jesus. This shalom is peace that comes from provision. Instead of judging a brother or sister, we are curious. We love and support them, even if it requires us to sacrifice from our own life. But, if we strike and bite at those in the church, we strike and bite at Jesus. If we judge the church, we judge Jesus. This self-righteousness, unforgiveness, and judgmentalism grieves the Holy Spirit a...

The Gift of Losing My Will

The Gift of Losing My Will https://youtu.be/Gth-jioWeMY Pasto... https://youtu.be/Gth-jioWeMY Pastor Ray continues the illumination of the parable of the sower in Luke 8. The key to the parable of the sower is a willingness to suffer, as we deny ourselves take up our cross and follow Jesus. It's dealing with that inner pain of our hearts and choosing to no longer satiate ourselves with something to numb the pain with whatever our drug of course has been. We must simply come and put down our roots in Jesus. There's a work of circumcision that we must allow Jesus to do, as the Holy Spirit unveils those things we've used to avoid that intense suffering. Learn To Live Before You Die

Learn To Live Before You Die https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy36fp... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy36fpXnEbQ Pastor Ray walks us through the life of the disciples after Jesus had died until the day of Pentecost came. He walks us through the purpose of our lives, in that we have to learn how to live before we can learn how to die. We must learn how to totally give up control of our lives now. All of salvation has been initiated by God, not by us, not because we're anything special. There is a warning throughout the message that says unless we humble our hearts and let go of the belief that we can make it happen, than God will pass us by. "You're gonna have to go to church and humble your heart and begin to weep and cry and say I'm not righteous and I'm not going to make it." How to Die to Self

How to Die to Self https://youtu.be/IXTJDzfoQW0 We of... https://youtu.be/IXTJDzfoQW0 We often speak of dying to self--but how does one do it? G.D. Watson provides some very practical insights on how to die to self. First, the person who wishes to die to self must put off every ulterior motive for seeking Jesus. His or her only motive for seeking Jesus must be Jesus Himself. Second, we are to accept all humiliation as a cross. We need not create our own cross. Instead, every perplexity, distress, humiliation, hardship, or disagreeable thing is to bring us deeper into Jesus. Similarly, we must reject in our hearts the honor of those who would elevate us. Next, we must deliberately live a simple life, by faith alone. When those we love differ with us on nonessentials, we are to yield to them in love. In essence, we as a daily habit seek our nothingness and God's allness in everything. Have you decided to die to self? If so, did you come to a place where you sai...

John 14:15 - Berean Study Bible The question that we need to ask ourselves as Pastor Ray has been asking Jesus and himself do we really love Jesus? Is that reflected in the choices we make, do we make choices to please ourselves or to please Jesus and to be obedient to Him? Pastor Ray goes through a story in Pilgrim's Progress (most of Chapter 8), which is so convicting because it's very similar to where most of us live. I'm sure that Pastor Ray will be delving into this topic more deeply but it's important to drop your defenses and allow the Holy Spirit access to your heart. Jesus hasn't come to condemn you but rather transform you but has happened in reality. It's something to poinder over, especially as you pray. https://nationalprayerchapel.com/?p=57973...

How to Overcome Sin

How to Overcome Sin https://youtu.be/WRUawBzEUy8 Many ... https://youtu.be/WRUawBzEUy8 Many Christians today live in a miserable state of bondage to sin. They pray and resolve to do better. They suppress sinful urges and desires. And they think this is the normal Christian life. But they never overcome sin. So what are we to do? How do we overcome sin? First, we must recognize that all sin flows out of a voluntary preference, or state of commitment, to please ourselves. All outward actions, motives, and intentions flow out of this selfishness. Can we suppress selfishness by resolution? Certainly not. Second, we must see that love is the fulfillment of the law. Is love produced by resolution? No. We may abstain from gratifying a sinful desire, but that doesn't produce the love of God in the heart. The Bible clearly states that we overcome sin by faith in Jesus Christ. In very practical terms, this means that you make a commitment to Jesus. This commitment is t...

Two Roads, One Broad One Narrow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUJInR... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUJInR0inhA Pastor Ray lays out two roads for the Christian, the primary question is which road are you on? Listen intently and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the narrow way. The narrow way is too narrow to allow selfishness, while the broad road makes everything about its own consumption in some form (i.e. what's in it for me and how can I benefit). What is the testimony that your life proclaims (not just your mouth)? Is it laying down your life for your brother and/or your sister, your family, all that Jesus puts in your life, or is it about you being all you can be?
