Pastor Ray exposes much of the idolatry in the modern church today, first with the communion and the eucharist, using these things as a substitute for intimacy with Jesus (that's why they're idols). This intimacy comes only as we're fully given to Jesus and we're crucified with Him, not by any rituals, even things that the Lord wants us to do (such as prayer, scripture study, etc.).
Let's not kid ourselves, there is no real intimacy with Jesus, unless we're fully given to Him. Give your life into the hands of Jesus, and be done with anything that would be a cheap substitute for intimacy with Jesus.
Soldiering On Is your church soldiering on without th... Is your church soldiering on without the Holy Spirit, perhaps while praying for revival? This will never produce revival. We must take the position, "Either the Holy Spirit comes, or the church closes. And it's over." How do you know if you're soldiering on? When your church stops confession and repentance. Instead, the church fills up broken cisterns with washed up doctrine, programs and Bible studies, casualness, and happy praise and worship. As a result, the church makes no impact on the culture. Christians remain carnal and unsanctified, and the lost unsaved. This isn't God's heart for the church. Before, the church had revivals. Refreshings of the Holy Spirit brought general change to entire cities and nations. Criminal activities stopped, bars closed, broken families made peace, and people paid back old debts.
