Our series on the Beatitudes continues today, with the focus on the third Beatitude. Pastor Ray goes back to the story of King David and his wayward son, Absalom, to illustrate this meekness that Jesus requires of us and wants to do in us. Soldiering On Is your church soldiering on without th... Is your church soldiering on without the Holy Spirit, perhaps while praying for revival? This will never produce revival. We must take the position, "Either the Holy Spirit comes, or the church closes. And it's over." How do you know if you're soldiering on? When your church stops confession and repentance. Instead, the church fills up broken cisterns with washed up doctrine, programs and Bible studies, casualness, and happy praise and worship. As a result, the church makes no impact on the culture. Christians remain carnal and unsanctified, and the lost unsaved. This isn't God's heart for the church. Before, the church had revivals. Refreshings of the Holy Spirit brought general change to entire cities and nations. Criminal activities stopped, bars closed, broken families made peace, and people paid back old debts.
