Today's message centers around the story of Jonah, who was simply unwilling to obey the word of the Lord to his heart. After being swallowed by a large fish, the same word of the Lord came to Jonah but although He obeyed in part, his heart was not in alignment with Jesus. The problem in the western church is that we've made Jesus into something He's not, much like Jonah did.
This is a very sobering message today, will you prayerfully consider it? May we lay down all of our expectations of God and allow Him to give us His heart for the lost and dying. Jonah's unwillingness to do this likely cost him eternally, will you lay down your reputation and everything that's connected to it?
Soldiering On Is your church soldiering on without th... Is your church soldiering on without the Holy Spirit, perhaps while praying for revival? This will never produce revival. We must take the position, "Either the Holy Spirit comes, or the church closes. And it's over." How do you know if you're soldiering on? When your church stops confession and repentance. Instead, the church fills up broken cisterns with washed up doctrine, programs and Bible studies, casualness, and happy praise and worship. As a result, the church makes no impact on the culture. Christians remain carnal and unsanctified, and the lost unsaved. This isn't God's heart for the church. Before, the church had revivals. Refreshings of the Holy Spirit brought general change to entire cities and nations. Criminal activities stopped, bars closed, broken families made peace, and people paid back old debts.
